A Note from Penzey's Spices

OK-I love Penzey's Spices.  I stock up everytime I go to Appleton.  I especially love the Blue Poppy Seeds, Pure Vanilla, and Cocoa.  Besides the spices, I love the newsletter that I get from them.  This is what Bill had to say:

Kindness works

Our years of selling spices have taught us that cooking is not a one size fits all world:  far from it.  We've learned the wonder of cooking lies in the incredible diversity of the people who cook, and the incredible variety of food they cook.  Over the years we have come to understand for all of our differences, for the tremendous variety of what we cook, people who cook have something in common.  THEY CARE ENOUGH TO MAKE THE LIVES OF THOSE AROUND THEM BETTER.  The research shows that kindness of cooks works.  People who share dinner together at the kitchen table go on to share a brighter future.  A brighter future made possible by people with the kindness to build it one meal at a time.  It is this kindness we celebrate, this kindness we hope to spread, this kindness that makes all who cook ONE.  We hope to share the greater family of human kindness that we've found all cooks belong to.  Come along and join us.  Be ONE.

Cooking is awesome; it is tasty food and so much more.  Cooking starts a healing inside us that flows to those around us, spreads out into our communities, and ultimately shapes the world in a very positive way.  For so many of us cooking really did start with us valuing ourselves.  Cooking gets compliments and compliments heal.  We can move past that beginning stage of cooking for compliments and taking that next step to sharing what we have with those around us.  There are many paths to that next step, but none more clear and easy to see the value in finding someone you can love even more than you love yourself.  True Love is at the heart of cooking.
